So lately I’ve been feeling a tad homesick, so what better way to remind of home than to draw patterns about my beautiful Panama. The first one is a pattern of polleras (which our national female folkloric dress) and the second one is the mask worn by “diablitos sucios” (dirty devils) which are customed guys that dance around the streets during our annual carnival week.
Ultimamente he estado extrañando mi bello Panamá, asi que decidí recordarlo mediante dibujando patrones acerca de mi Panamá. El primer patrón es de polleras (lo cual es el traje típico femenino de Panamá) y el segundo patrón es de las máscaras que usan los “diablitos sucios”, lo cual son hombres disfrazados que bailan en las calles durante la época de carnaval.

As u know I love the work of pattern design, so lately I’ve been working on a mini collection of fun, tropical motifs with my illustrations. I really like how my macaws & flowers came out, might be doing some tweeking with the fish & the birds.
Como ustedes saben me encantan los diseños de patrones, asi que decidí diseñar mis propios patrones con un tema divertido y tropical. Me gusta como me salieron mis guacamayas y mis flores, pero quizás añada algo a mis pescaditos y mis frutas.
inspirations: lovin’ patterns
Lately I’ve been loving how some designers make some really cool patterns like Olive Manna, she has a really cool tutorial in how to do patterns, which is funny ’cause I actually do patterns in my graphics job designing gift wrap. I’m actually thinking about doing patterns of my mini illustrations, i’ll keep you all posted. In the meantime, enjoy this really cool patterns done by other awesome designers, (top) Zoetropa, (middle) Olive Manna, (bottom) the Local Paper (designs are inspired by Costa Rican wrought iron gates).
Ultimamente me ha estado gustando mucho el diseño de estampados de papel como los de Olive Manna. Ella ofrece un curso muy instructivo y fácil de comprender sobre como diseñar estampados en Photoshop. Aunque yo en mi trabajo ya he estado diseñando estampados para papel regalo, con solo ver el sitio web de Olive Mama me inspiró unas ganas de diseñar mis propios estampados con mis ilustraciones. Otros diseñadores de estampados que me gustan mucho son (primera fila) Zoetropa, (última fila) The Local Paper (sus diseñados son inspirados por las rejas de hierro de Costa Rica), y por supuesto (fila del medio) los de Olive Manna.
