I apologize for my extended vacation, but I’m back in business now with a new look (which I hope you all like, feel free to comment). I’m still making some more additions & small changes, but no more drastic stuff. // Discúlpenme por mis vacaciones un poco largas, pero ya estoy de vuelta con un nuevo look (la cual espero que les guste, por favor, díganme que piensan). Todavía estoy trabajando en pequeños cambios y adiciones, pero nada drástico.

web presence makeover!
¡Hola! Sorry for the long absence, its been crazy at my day job the past two weeks plus I’ve been thinking about taking new directions on my Tamarindo venture.
I decided to start building my original jeanelleechols.com web presence since its the home of my design portfolio. My friend told me about this new web content management website called Cargo Collective, that for a low annual fee gives you use to their really clean templates. I’ve never been a fan of already made templates, but their templates & the CSS coding are so simple that you can easily customize it to your liking. More updates coming soon, stay tuned!

También decidí empezar a reconstruir mi sitio web, jeanelleechols.com ya que es mi portafolio digital. Una amistad me comentó sobre este sitio web llamado Cargo Collective, donde por un precio módico te dejan usar sus planillas para construir tu sitio web. No soy muy fanática de planillas, pero como no soy experta en códigos CSS y tienen planillas simples que puedo modificar fácilmente, decidí usarlos para mi portafolio. Pronto tendré mas avances sobre mi sitio web.

interior picks: swedish & indian decor lovin’
As you can tell I’ve been lately inspired by awesome interior decoration, I especially love Swedish design (I drool over IKEA). I just love how they use white to keep things so airy & clean, but they give it that umph by adding splashes of unexpected color & unique items. One great example is the above apartment I found via Decor8. I also been inspired by wordly decor, especially Indian décor. I found this great pictures via Apartment Therapy of this really beautiful Indian house. I love especially the mosaics in the floor and this lovely blue window. It reminds me a lot of old colonial homes in my beloved Panama.
Ultimamente he estado inspirado por decoración de interiores únicas, especialmente me encanta el diseño Sueco (me encanta IKEA). Me gustan como usan el color blanco para mantener un look especioso y limpio, pero le dan ese ingrediente especial con su uso de colores vibrantes y adornos únicos. Un gran ejemplo son estas fotos que encontré de un apartmento sueco en Decor8. También me inspira decoraciones globales como la de este hogar Indú que encontré en Apartment Therapy. Me encanta los mosaicos coloridos y esta gran venta azul, me recuerda mucho a las casa coloniales en mi Panamá.

Look what I found at Target! I’ve been a big fan of sticker art (especially from Blik), but I didn’t want to spend the money especially for an apartment. But now Target has some really affordable cool sticker art, like this tree & birds. If you live in a rental place like me, sticker art is the way to go if you want to give your place that extra umph without breaking the bank.
¡Miren lo que encontré en Target! Siempre he sido fanática de arte adhesivo para las paredes (especialmente los de Blik), pero desafortunadamente no quiero gastar mucho dinero para un apartamento que solo alquilo. Pero ahora Target tiene arte adhesivo a precios muy razonables, como este lindo árbol con su pajaritos. Si vives en un lugar alquilado como yo, arte adhesivo es la mejor alternativa económica y creativea para decorar tu apartmento.

One of my favorite designers friends, Ms. Ivana, posted in her cool blog this really cool vintage shop called “three potato four“, that sells everything from a vintage typewriter to vintage classroom posters. So if you are looking for a cool place to do your christmas shopping this is the place.
Una de mis diseñadoras favoritas, Ivana, puso en su blog esta tienda web, “three potato four“. que vende artículos vintage como máquinas de escribir y tarjetas con ilustraciones vintage. Si estas buscando regalos únicos para estas navidades este es la tienda para ti.

makeover shows
I’m usually not a big fan of makeover shows, well maybe home makeover shows from HGTV, but the show “Mary: Queen of Shops” from BBC has really captured my attention. The thing I love the most about this show is that the host, Mary, uses innovative graphic & interior design to help out this small businesses. My favorite episode so far is the one about this couple where the wife is also the designer/seamstress of the shop, and I loved how Mary highlighted her custom, handmade designs to appeal to customers. The store also carries other clothing found by the husband, but in order for customers to know what is handmade & what is found, they labeled each garment with either a tag that says “handmade &” or “& found”, which I think its pretty clever. The original name of the store was “Comfort & Joy”, which totally didn’t fit the store, so with the help of their children they picked “handmade & found” which I totally love. Another one of my favorites part is how she decided for the designer/seamstress to have her studio open for viewing that way customers can see the artist in action.
No soy muy fanática de shows de “makeover” pero encontré este show en BBC que se llama “Mary: Queen of Shops” donde la presentadora ayuda a pequeñas tiendas de ropa británicas, que estan a punto de la bancarrota, a renovar su imagen y sus estrategias de mercadeo. Mi episodio favorito es de esta pareja que tiene una tienda pequeña donde la esposa diseña y cose sus creaciones. Me encantó como la presentadora dió a relucir las creaciones hechas a mano por la dueña usando un nuevo nombre para la tienda “handmade & found” y usando diseño gráfico para darle una nueva imagen a su tienda. La presentadora también abrió el estudio de la dueña para que sus clientes puedieran verla en acción cosiendo sus creaciones.
