Doña Ana :: Creative Inspirations in English & Español

I decided to try this new medium of creating my own rubber stamps, I gotta admit that it is actually a challenge, but a good one. It actually felt good doing some creative, meticulous labor for a change. I learned that you need to have a simple design, ’cause a complex one is pretty hard to carve. I’m actually planning on doing a tri-color stamp, so I can continue my pops of color style. Have any great suggestions? Feel free to comment!

Decidí adventurarme a crear y diseñar mis propias estampas de hule. Tengo que admitir que es un poco difícil, pero muy divertido. Realmente me sentí super al hacer mi diseño totalmente a mano. Aprendí que es mejor usar un diseño simple y no complejo, ya que se te haría más difícil tallar el hule. Estoy planeando hacer mis estampas de tres colores, asi puedo continuar mi estilo de diseños coloridos. Tienes otras sugerencias?

I stumbled upon the blog of an amazing illustrator called joojoo and I saw the cutest terrarium ever, just had to post it. This terrarium makes bonsai trees look so 1980′s, totally love it!

Encontré el blog de una ilustradora encantadora que se llama joojoo y ella tiene en su blog este mini arbolito hecho con masilla. Super, super lindo! Me encanta! Hace ver a todos los arbolitos bonsai como cosas antiguas de los ’80.

My inspiration for today: Spanish/Mexican tiles, love the color combos & the intricate designs. The funny things is that the top picture is actually cookies made by the Whipped Bake Shop (found via Two Brunettes), aren’t they amazing? The bottom pictures are from tiles made by a California-based tile company called Tierra y Fuego.

Mi inspiración de hoy: Baldosas Españolas y Mejicanas, me encanta sus combinaciones de colores y sus diseños intricados. Lo chistoso es que la foto de arriba es realmente galletas hechas por Whipped Bakery (encontrado via Two Brunettes), no son divinos? Las fotos de abajo son de baldosas hechas por la compañia Tierra y Fuego localizadas en California.

Chipojo is a really cool Etsy store owned by visual artists Coni & Hugo who reside in beautiful Barcelona, Spain. Their prints are so quirky & cool, it almost reminds of those beautiful abstract paintings from master Pablo Picasso. Check them out!

Chipojo es una tienda Etsy que vende las creaciones impresas de los artistas Coni y Hugo que son originarios de la bella Barcelona, España. Sus impresos son super divinos, me recuerdan mucho del estilo abstracto del gran pintor Picasso con un uso de colores super lindos y vibrantes.

Browsing thru the web I can help but admire the cool blog headers I see from different design blogs. I just love how they use illustrations & textures to make the coolest headers ever. I have a lot of favorite ones which includes this three (top) Thompson Family Life, (middle) Unruly Things and (bottom) Two Brunettes, which by the way, they also custom design custom blog headers.

Recorriendo la internet no puedo evitar de admirar las cabeceras de blogs de diseño. Me encanta como usan sus ilustraciones y diferentes texturas para hacer unas combinaciones divinas. Tengo muchas favoritas y entre esas me gusta estas tres (primera) Thompson Family Life, (medio) Unruly Things, y (última) Two Brunettes, que por si no sabian, ellas ofrecen servicios de diseño de cabeceras de blogs.

Lately I’ve been loving how some designers make some really cool patterns like Olive Manna, she has a really cool tutorial in how to do patterns, which is funny ’cause I actually do patterns in my graphics job designing gift wrap. I’m actually thinking about doing patterns of my mini illustrations, i’ll keep you all posted. In the meantime, enjoy this really cool patterns done by other awesome designers, (top) Zoetropa, (middle) Olive Manna, (bottom) the Local Paper (designs are inspired by Costa Rican wrought iron gates).

Ultimamente me ha estado gustando mucho el diseño de estampados de papel como los de Olive Manna. Ella ofrece un curso muy instructivo y fácil de comprender sobre como diseñar estampados en Photoshop. Aunque yo en mi trabajo ya he estado diseñando estampados para papel regalo, con solo ver el sitio web de Olive Mama me inspiró unas ganas de diseñar mis propios estampados con mis ilustraciones. Otros diseñadores de estampados que me gustan mucho son (primera fila) Zoetropa, (última fila) The Local Paper (sus diseñados son inspirados por las rejas de hierro de Costa Rica), y por supuesto (fila del medio) los de Olive Manna.

¡Hola! Sorry for the long absence, its been crazy at my day job the past two weeks plus I’ve been thinking about taking new directions on my Tamarindo venture.

I decided  to start building my original jeanelleechols.com web presence since its the home of my design portfolio. My friend told me about this new web content management website called Cargo Collective, that for a low annual fee gives you use to their really clean templates. I’ve never been a fan of already made templates, but their templates & the CSS coding are so simple that you can easily customize it to your liking. More updates coming soon, stay tuned!

¡Hola amigos! Disculpen la ausencia larga, es que he estado ocupado con mi trabajo y además he estado pensando en tomar una nueva dirección para Tamarindo.

También decidí empezar a reconstruir mi sitio web, jeanelleechols.com ya que es mi portafolio digital. Una amistad me comentó sobre este sitio web llamado Cargo Collective, donde por un precio módico te dejan usar sus planillas para construir tu sitio web. No soy muy fanática de planillas, pero como no soy experta en códigos CSS y tienen planillas simples que puedo modificar fácilmente, decidí usarlos para mi portafolio. Pronto tendré mas avances sobre mi sitio web.
