Doña Ana :: Creative Inspirations in English & Español

I’ve been working on ideas for my valentine’s card and I decided to experiment with my cursive hand lettering and I think I’m happy with the results. In Latin America we are educated to write in cursive lettering mostly, so I wanted to recreate that especially for such a romantic day like Valentine’s day.

He estado trabajando en mis ideas para tarjetas del día de San Valentín y decidí experimentar con mi letra cursiva y creo que estoy feliz con los resultados. En Latinoamérica nos educaron a siempre escribir en letra cursiva la mayoria del tiempo, asi que quise recrearlo con el romanticismo del dia de San Valentín.

As you can tell I’ve been lately inspired by awesome interior decoration, I especially love Swedish design (I drool over IKEA). I just love how they use white to keep things so airy & clean, but they give it that umph by adding splashes of unexpected color & unique items. One great example is the above apartment I found via Decor8. I also been inspired by wordly decor, especially Indian décor. I found this great pictures via Apartment Therapy of this really beautiful Indian house. I love especially the mosaics in the floor and this lovely blue window. It reminds me a lot of old colonial homes in my beloved Panama.

Ultimamente he estado inspirado por decoración de interiores únicas, especialmente me encanta el diseño Sueco (me encanta IKEA). Me gustan como usan el color blanco para mantener un look especioso y limpio, pero le dan ese ingrediente especial con su uso de colores vibrantes y adornos únicos. Un gran ejemplo son estas fotos que encontré de un apartmento sueco en Decor8. También me inspira decoraciones globales como la de este hogar Indú que encontré en Apartment Therapy. Me encanta los mosaicos coloridos y esta gran venta azul, me recuerda mucho a las casa coloniales en mi Panamá.

Look what I found at Target! I’ve been a big fan of sticker art (especially from Blik), but I didn’t want to spend the money especially for an apartment. But now Target has some really affordable cool sticker art, like this tree & birds. If you live in a rental place like me, sticker art is the way to go if you want to give your place that extra umph without breaking the bank.

¡Miren lo que encontré en Target! Siempre he sido fanática de arte adhesivo para las paredes (especialmente los de Blik), pero desafortunadamente no quiero gastar mucho dinero para un apartamento que solo alquilo. Pero ahora Target tiene arte adhesivo a precios muy razonables, como este lindo árbol con su pajaritos. Si vives en un lugar alquilado como yo, arte adhesivo es la mejor alternativa económica y creativea para decorar tu apartmento.

Bookbinding is one of those really cool crafts that I’ve been wanting to learn that takes patience & skill. And I just happened to find a really cool lady called Susan Holland that does handmade bookbinding of the coolest journals. I love especially her kitty cat one & the one made with a vintage music sheet.

El arte de encuadernar libros es uno de esas técnicas creativas que me gustaria aprender, pero como toda técnica requiere paciencia y destreza. Pero yo encontré a Susan Holland que ya sabe esta técnica y ella diseña y vende diarios bien bonitos. Me encanta especialmente sus diarios con unas portadas de gatitos y de una partitura musical antigua.

I’m not a big fashion expert since i’m a jeans & t-shirt type of girl but lately i’m been really appreciating nice vintage pieces from Anthropologie, like this gorgeous yellow dress. I’m not a girlie girly but I definitely appreciate a beautiful piece of classical art made in textile form. Check out this lovely yellow dress!

Yo no soy una experta en modas ya que me gusta simplemente vestirme con solo un par de jeans y una camiseta, pero recientemente he estado appreciando la ropa clásica de unos de mis boutiques favoritos, Anthropologie. Me encanta la simplicidad clásica y juvenil de este vestido amarillo, ya me lo imagino con un par de tacones estilo mary jane chocolates clásicos.

Being in the online stationery biz you have to make sure you can present your products in the best photos ever, especially since your customers can’t touch or see live your products. Recently one of my favorite designers, Nisee Made, posted pictures of a mini photo studio she set up to take pictures of her cards. I totally love it! I usually have to wait until there is a sunny day to take my photos by my balcony, but this set up totally works for non-sunny days, thanks for posting it Denise!

En el negocio de vender tarjetas y otros productos por el internet, uno se tiene que asegurar de tomar buenas fotos para poder darle a tus clientes una buena idea de lo que van a comprar. Yo usualmente espero a que el día este soleado para tomar fotos de mis productos en mi balcón, pero una de mis diseñadora favoritas, Nisee Made, creó un mini estudio de fotografía en su casa que es perfecto para los días no soleados. ¡Gracias por compartirlo Denise!
